Day 212- Ginkaku-ji, the silver pavilion

Ginkaku-ji is another of Kyoto’s many temples- one part spectacular, one part disappointing. The disappointment is in the name- the silver pavilion. It left me with the grand illusion that it would be similarly precious to its big brother Kinkaku-ji (see it here). Unfortunately the architect died before he could realise his vision to gild it silver. It’s name aside, the temple is a pretty structure, commanding your attention as you wonder around the primped and preened Japanese gardens that surround it.

I couldn’t decided between the black & white and the colour for this shot so I thought I would post both and hold a vote…
